A 54-year-old man surnamed Chen arrived at Sham Shui Po Police Station at 11pm yesterday (13th) to report the case. He said that he had received a call from a man earlier. The other party claimed to be a mainland police officer, saying that the victim was involved in a criminal case and gave instructions. He entered his bank account number and password on the designated website. Chen Nan later discovered that approximately HK$470,000 in his account had been transferred and suspected of being deceived.
After initial investigation by the police, the case was classified as "acquisition of property by deception" and was handed over to the Sham Shui Po District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.
